3 Central Texas Swimming Spots

Central Texas has plenty of well-loved swimming spots to get you through the summer. Here are three of my favorites:
1. Barton Springs Pool
Sunbathe on the grassy hill before you plunge into the refreshing 68° water. Nestled within the old oaks of Zilker Park, this is the quintessential Austin swimming hole.
Barton Springs Pool is located in central Austin, so it's convenient to visit.  Near the pool you'll find a small museum, a playground and plenty of space for picnics. Pro-tip: purchase a season pass to the pool for a serious discount on admissions.
2. Krause Springs
Splash under picturesque waterfalls and fern-covered grottos. This privately owned swimming destination is located in Spicewood, which is a scenic 45 minute drive west of Austin.
When you arrive at Krause, you'll enter through a beautiful garden featuring various flowers and plants, a giant windchime, and shaded paths.
Krause features a human-made pool on one level, and a natural swimming area below.  Both are fed directly from the springs. While you're there, stay the night in a primitive camping site or bring your RV! RV sites with water and electricity are available.
3. Blue Hole
Cool off under towering cypress trees in the 75° clear blue water. Make a splash from one of their rope swings or simply relax on the lawn.
Blue hole is located in Wimberley, which is about 45 minutes southwest of Austin.
Reservations are required for swimming, available on the Blue Hole Regional Park website.
